Anthony Foster - Class of 1981

~Anthony Foster Sr~ ( Feb. 3, 1963-August 18, 2005)Anthony D. Foster was born in Oklahoma City and a 1981 graduate of Douglass High School. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Journalism in 1986 from The University of Oklahoma.His career as a Broadcast News Reporter led to his working for all three major networks in OKC.He began his career with KWTV-9 (1996-1998) , the CBS-affiliate in Oklahoma City, worked as a News Reporter and Co-host of a weekend show (1988-1992)for KOCO-TV 5 and was a Sr. News Reporter for KFOR-TV 4 (1993-1999).While working for Channel 4, He earned two Emmy Award nominations for outstanding investigative reporting. One of the nominations included reports on the condition of the Oklahoma County Jail-1996. He was a contributor to other award-winning news stories including "Tornado in 1998", "Little Black Lies" in 1993, and "The Oklahoma City Bombing" in 1995.Outside of the news room, Foster was known for his melodious singing voice. He was frequently called upon to sing for churches, civic groups, and professional organizations. Many Oklahomans remember Foster's resonant baritone voice recording of "Amazing Grace" at the end of KFOR-TV's nightly broadcast coverage of the 1995 Alfred P. Murrah Federal Bldg. bombing. His voice was featured over a two week period providing comfort to many.Foster later served as Mass Media and Communications Consultant/Instructor for Star Spencer Magnet School and Moon Middle School.He was also a Writing Consultant in the Office of Student Affairs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.He passed away in 2005 from complications of Congestive Heart Failure.
