Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson is being honored on January 15 by the NFL with a "Golden Football" given in his honor to his high school - Frederick A. Douglass High School for producing a Super Bowl Champion player. A 1:00 pm homecoming assembly will be held in the auditorium along with the basketball game that night. Come out and celebrate and honor Thomas and Douglass High School for his athletic excellence.
Thomas Henderson, “…Douglass High School Trojans, I am coming to OKC to present a Golden Football to my high school. The NFL is giving Golden Footballs to high schools that produced players who played in super bowls. There will be a 1:00 pm assembly at Douglass and at the homecoming basketball game that night, January 15th. I am going to honor my coach Donald Burns. Coach Burns died in the Oklahoma City bombing. He was one of those people who told me I had skills and talent. I was at Douglass at 19 years of age. He was one of those people who told me I had skills and talent. I was at Douglass 1970-1971. Only played football my senior year. All of my friends and classmates please come out and celebrate Douglass being a part of an athlete’s development to go on to play in Super Bowls X, XII AND XIII. WINNING SUPER BOWL XII IN 1977. Douglass deserves this Golden ball and I hope it inspires more Trojans to fulfill their potential in sports or academics.
