You (or designee) are invited to attend a meeting of the Community Advisory Board for the Frederick A. Douglass High School Academy of Law and Public Safety (AOLPS).  The next Advisory Board meeting will be May 9th from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in the Douglass Media Center (Library).
In the 2012-2013 academic school year, half of OKCPS High Schools opened High School Career Academies supported by the National Academy Foundation (NAF).  The other half,  including Douglass High School, will open NAF Academies in the 2013-2014 school year.  For more information about all High School Career Academies, visit  http://www.okcps.org/Departments/Academics/SecondaryEducationMidHigh/HighSchoolCareerAcademy/tabid/12553/Default.aspx.
The Douglass AOLPS will prepare students for academic excellence in college as well as challenging and rewarding professional careers involving law and public safety. Our graduates will possess the skills crucial to succeed in today’s business world including critical thinking and reasoning skills, public speaking and presentation skills, business writing skills, debate and negotiation skills and professional technological literacy.
Board membership recruitment is ongoing. We are looking for community representatives to help us prepare students for success in these fields: law, security, corrections, law enforcement, firefighting, disaster preparedness, higher education, IT and more. 
Please mark your calendars and come to the next Douglass AOLPS Community Advisory Board meeting, May 9th from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in the Douglass Media Center (Library) to learn more about the AOLPS and how you can help. Feel free to invite others.
