The 2012 Juneteenth Festival!
Juneteenth is one of the longest running community events in the Oklahoma City area and PPBC, Inc. In conjunction with the Metropolitan Library System and Ralph Ellison Library want to make it an even bigger event for the 2012 year!
Juneteenth historically represents when Blacks west of the Mason Dixie line found out that they were free from slavery. The modern celebration of Juneteenth still celebrates freedom, freedom of arts, mind and spirit. Perry Publishing & Broadcasting has partnered with Ralph Ellison Library to make this a week-long of great events.
Starting Monday, June 11th and ending on Saturday, June 16th, All the events will take place inside Ralph Ellison Library located at NE 23rd & MLK, Monday through Friday to promote ready and educational activities tying in Juneteenth, and ending on Saturday, June 16th with a Free concert featuring national and local R&B, Gospel, Jazz and Hip Hop acts and vendors all taking place at Washington Park located at 400 N. High in Oklahoma City this will take place from 10:00 am to 7:00pm.
This is all free for the public to attend, 2011 we had over 8,000 in attendance.
