2012 All School Reunion
July 19-22, 2012
Greetings to the Alumni Family
Dear Douglass Alumni, Friends and Supporters,
On behalf of the National Oklahoma City Douglass High School Alumni Association, I bring you greetings. You are a part of the rich and deep tradition of the oldest high school in the state of Oklahoma. Our beginnings start with a one-room school house originally called “The Colored School.” We have come a long way since 1891. The year of 2012 represents the 121st year of our school’s existence.
The purpose of this newsletter is to announce the 2012 All School Reunion. It will take place in Oklahoma City from Thursday, July 19th through Sunday, July 22nd. We invite your interest, presence, participation and support. We have held an all school reunion every third year since the Centennial Reunion in 1991.
We have made plans for a great reunion and celebration of the life and times of dear ‘ole Douglass. Whether you attended Douglass in this century or last, its importance and significance in your life cannot be underestimated. I believe that the greatest common denominator of African American folks in Oklahoma City is their attendance or connection to past and present students.
One purpose of the alumni association is to help make Douglass a better place to learn and excel. We need your help today in improving the lives and educational opportunities for students at Douglass High School. We hope that you will consider attending this palindromic reunion.
As A Trojan,
James R. Johnson
Alumni President
