Dear Classmates. Alumni. Businesses, Organizations, and Friends,
The purpose of the Frederick A Douglass High School Class of 1972 Scholarship Foundation is to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in administering and awarding scholarships. The scholarships help to promote the education of graduating Douglass High School seniors who are committed to furthering their education, which enhances their career goals and contribution to society in general. Our foundation has awarded over $28,000 in scholarships to graduates who have demonstrated excellence in academics and community service. We not only provide financial assistance; we also tutor and mentor Douglass High School students.
As in the past years, this year continues to be challenging. However, with the help of our supporters, we can continue to invest in our youth. The funds used to award scholarships are raised from donations from classmates, alumni, businesses, organizations, and friends. However, our biggest fundraising efforts has been from sponsoring golf tournaments. The 13th Hillard Sharp Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, with a tee time of 10:00am at John Conrad Regional Golf Club located at 711 S. Douglas Blvd., Midwest City, OK 73130.
Your support is requested and needed to ensure that this golf tournament and fundraising event is successful. For registration information, please see the enclosed brochure, which includes the Golf Tournament Registration Form. If you do not play golf, you can still participate in this fundraising effort by sponsoring a player, sponsoring a hole, or making a donation and/or in-kind donation(s), i.e. items for door prizes and golfer goodie bags. Information on sponsorship and donations is also included in the brochure.
As always, the foundation values your consideration and support, therefore anything you do to help will be greatly appreciated. Since the foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, contributions are tax deductible to the extent provided by the Internal Revenue Code. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Tournament Coordinators: David Hurte (405) 613-5047; Chris Burden (405) 763-7305; or Vinson Simmons (405) 664-3663.

Sincerely,
David Hurte,
Executive Director
